Basic description of the fire ventilation grille

This ventilation grille solves the problem of ventilation of fire compartments where fire resistance of the fire compartmentation structure is required. It serves as a fire stop. It consists of two basic parts. The first part is the double-sided fire ventilation grille itself, which prevents the spread of fire. This grille is installed in the fire partitioning structure - the wall in a pre-prepared mounting hole. The second part of the grille is made up of two parts of the mounting hole cover, it is used for design covering of the mounting hole on both sides of the fire partition wall. The method of installation of the fire ventilation grille and the sight covers shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's current Installation Instructions.

These fire grilles are used in lightweight vertical construction - SDK without the possibility of connecting downstream air ducts. Their main function is to provide a continuous supply and exhaust of air. In case of fire and temperature rise in the rooms, the foaming horizontal intumescent louvres are automatically activated. When they are foamed, the ventilation grille closes, thus fulfilling its fire protection function - preventing the spread of flame and smoke, but especially toxic gases.

This ventilation grille is not classified as smoke-tight. The fire resistance values of the ventilation grille are declared as E90/EI15 to EI90/EW90 for all types of fire-resistant ventilation grilles. This is as stipulated by standard CSN 73 0810.

Ventilation grille covers are offered in light grey as standard. However, on customer's request, we are able to offer painting shades according to the RAL colour chart. So if you require a different colour option, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will prepare a tailor-made quotation for you. The ventilation grille cover is labelled with the fire resistance rating and serial number.

Material of the fire-resistant ventilation grille and its processing

The fire ventilation grille comprises foamable intumescent tape, a Vermiculite-based thermal insulation board with inorganic binders, galvanised steel and perforated sheet metal. The materials are processed in accordance with local regulations. The products do not contain any hazardous or health hazardous materials.

Installation

The installation of the grids in the fire partitioning wall follows the certified height location depending on the fire resistance value.

Installation of ventilation grilles in lightweight (SDK) prefabricated support structure and fire resistance value:

  • Type LKS 60 - the bottom edge of the grille is 0.1 to 2.56 m above floor level - EI45/EW90
  • Type LKS 60 - top edge of the grid max. 0.5 m above floor level - EI60/EW90

The distance from the edge of the ventilation grille to the top and bottom edge of the support structure must not be reduced below 100 mm, the distance from the edge of the ventilation grille to the side edge of the support structure must not be reduced below 200 mm.

Key features of the fire protection ventilation grille

  • It has been manufactured and certified in accordance with the provisions of Section 5 of Government Regulation No. 163/2002 Coll., as amended by Government Regulation No. 312/2005 Coll. and Government Regulation No. 215/2016 Coll.
  • Fire resistance tested up to E90/EI90/EW90.
  • Certified installation is possible up to 3 m above floor level.

Certification

Certified wall closure complying with all legislative rules and meeting the requirements in the field of fire protection of buildings from a Czech manufacturer and supplier who specializes in the production and sale of custom design elements of passive fire protection - fire doors and fire ventilation grilles.

The construction of fire protection ventilation grilles is classified as a fire stop and is suitable for placement in all civil, public and industrial buildings. The fire resistance of all types of fire ventilation grilles is tested according to the latest valid testing standards in the state authorized testing laboratory Pavus, a.s. The certificate for all types of fire-resistant ventilation grilles was issued by the Technical and Testing Institute of Construction Prague, s.p.
